How and Where to Watch: Equatorial Guinea vs. Sudan
Equatorial Guinea and Sudan play a must-win match with AFCON survival at stake
The players and fans of Equatorial Guinea experienced the ups and downs of football in the matter of minutes, in the team’s opening AFCON match against Burkina Faso. The National Thunder will be hoping for a different outcome against Sudan in Match Day 2 clash against Sudan live on beIN SPORTS on Sunday.
All the excitement of AFCON 2025 exclusively on beIN SPORTS, starting December 21
It looked as if Equatorial Guinea were going to be picking up a win against Burkina Faso, having taken the lead in the 85th minute, despite being down to ten men after Basilio Ndong was sent off. But then, two sucker punches in injury time from Burkina Faso saw Equatorial Guinea coming away with nothing, placing Sunday’s set-to against Sudan in Casablanca as a must-win match.
Sudan’s players will also be looking for their first AFCON points after a bruising defeat to Algeria in the opening match. However, there is also a secondary, more important mission for Sudan and that is to provide some kind of joy to a population and diaspora torn apart by a brutal civil war. Sudan has had a tough time in recent AFCON finals with the team on a run of eight matches without win, and just one goal in its past five games.
Both records will need to be reversed if Sudan are to keep the dreams of their fans alive by moving through to the knockout stages of AFCON 2025
