Botafogo and Atlético Mineiro Ready for the Libertadores Final
With just under 100 kilometers separating their training camps, Atlético Mineiro and Botafogo have completed their final preparations for the highly anticipated Copa Libertadores Final, set to take place this Saturday at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires.
Atlético Mineiro Aims for a Second Continental Title
The Galo has set up camp at the Complejo de Bosques, home to Defensa y Justicia in Buenos Aires’ southern outskirts. There, coach Gabriel Milito finalized his starting eleven as the team seeks its second Libertadores crown, following their historic win in 2013.
Key players Guilherme Arana and Gustavo Scarpa trained without issues after recovering from a right ankle and right knee injury, respectively. However, the squad will be without Matías Zaracho, who suffered a hamstring injury in a recent Brasileirão match against São Paulo, and forward Cadu, who remains sidelined.
Atlético Mineiro’s probable lineup: Everson; Lyanco, Battaglia, Junior Alonso; Gustavo Scarpa, Fausto Vera, Alan Franco, Guilherme Arana; Paulinho, Hulk, and Deyverson.
A lighter moment occurred during training when Deyverson and Eduardo Vargas had a heated exchange that seemed like an exaggerated joke. The situation ended without incident, and both players quickly moved on.
Botafogo Chasing Their First Libertadores Trophy
At the Country Mapuche in Pilar, in northern Buenos Aires, Botafogo finalized their tactical details. The team will be missing defender Bastos, sidelined with a hamstring tendon injury sustained in their Brasileirão match against Palmeiras.
Additionally, Mateo Ponte, who was sent off in the semifinal second leg against Peñarol, is suspended and cannot play.
Botafogo’s probable lineup as they aim for their maiden Libertadores title: John; Vitinho, Adryelson, Barboza, Alex Telles; Marlon Freitas, Gregore, Luiz Henrique, Thiago Almada; Savarino, and Igor Jesus.
