Guardiola Reflects on Manchester City's Survival After Champions League Blow
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his bewilderment after his team's 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals on Saturday, admitting that he doesn't understand how his team managed to "survive" after the "blow to the face" from Wednesday's defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League Quarterfinals.
"I don't understand how we survived today. People don't imagine the blow we received in the face, the way we were knocked out... Why don't they give us an extra day to take care of the players' health? Coventry, Chelsea, Manchester United didn't play in Europe during the week," he said.
"The day after (the defeat against Real Madrid), the recovery, and then yesterday... we greeted each other and you can't prepare anything. Four hours from Manchester to here and playing the match in these conditions...," Guardiola added.
