Jhon Durán says he’s ready to start for Colombia and Aston Villa
Striker Jhon Jáder Durán said he’s "ready to be a starter" for the Colombia national team, but added that "everything has its time." The Aston Villa forward came on in the second half and contributed to the 4-0 thrashing of Chile.
"I'm ready to start anywhere, but everything has its moment, and I think we're doing well," said the 20-year-old striker. Playmaker Juan Fernando Quintero also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Colombian squad, led by Argentine coach Néstor Lorenzo.
The Racing Club player played down his role as a substitute. "We're like a family, we respect the coach's decisions. This time it was my turn to sit out, next time it’ll be someone else. I think that’s how competition works, and the most important thing is that Colombia does well, and that’s what brings us together," he said.
In his view, Colombia has 30 top-level players, so it’s important to understand when some players aren’t starters, because the focus should be "not on the individual, but on the group, on the collective. And when my time comes, I’ll be ready to help."
