Lucas Vázquez Joins Real Madrid's Growing Injury List
Lucas Vázquez ended the first half of Real Madrid's match against Osasuna with a bandaged left thigh due to a muscular issue, prompting him to be replaced by Luka Modric at halftime to avoid using a third substitution window after injuries to fellow Brazilians Rodrygo Goes and Éder Militao.
Pending tests to determine the extent of Lucas Vázquez's muscle injury, Carlo Ancelotti finds himself without right-backs following the season-long knee injury to Dani Carvajal and now Vázquez's ailment.
At the 38th minute against Osasuna, Vázquez, without having been involved in any particularly damaging play, called for medical attention from the sideline after feeling a muscle strain in his left leg. He was bandaged and, upon facing his first direct opponent, was unable to continue in the play.
He finished the first half detached on the right flank, leaving the full-back duties to Fede Valverde. Earlier, Ancelotti had already lost Rodrygo to another muscle injury and Militao to a new knee issue. The Italian coach is now left with only four fit defenders: Fran García, Ferland Mendy, Antonio Rüdiger, and Jesús Vallejo, who remained on the bench despite Militao's injury, as Ancelotti opted to use youth team player Raúl Asencio instead.
