Neymar Dreams of Barcelona Return: Here’s What We Know
There is no doubt that Brazilian club Santos pulled off one of the most unexpected moves of the transfer window by bringing Neymar back to where it all began for the Brazilian star. However, this signing could now take an unexpected turn.
Neymar Dreams of Barcelona Return
Recent reports suggest that Neymar is eyeing a return to the highest level of European football, with his stint at Santos serving as a stepping stone to regain top form. According to Cadena SER, the former Al-Hilal, PSG, and Barcelona forward is also focused on preparing for the 2026 World Cup, which he sees as his last chance to lead Brazil to glory.
"He wants to prepare for the 2026 World Cup because it's his last opportunity to win it as Brazil’s leader… He has always wanted to return to Barcelona," the Spanish media outlet reported.
Neymar’s Current Situation at Santos
Recently recovered from a serious knee injury and various muscle issues, Neymar has made a modest return since terminating his lucrative contract with Al-Hilal and deciding to rejoin the club that introduced him to the world.
He re-debuted in a 1-1 draw against Botafogo de São Paulo, followed by another draw (0-0 vs. Novorizontino), and suffered a 2-1 defeat against Corinthians in the Paulista Championship group stage.
In his last two matches, the former Barcelona and PSG star started but was substituted in the second half. So far, Neymar has yet to score or provide an assist in his first three games back.
