Real Madrid Begins Process for Presidential Elections
A meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m., during which the election call is expected to be approved and sent to the Electoral Board to formally start the election process.
Real Madrid will begin its electoral process on Tuesday to select its next president and Board of Directors, looking ahead to the next four years.
An Early Start to the Electoral Process
Florentino Pérez, the club's president, who has led the team in recent years, called a meeting of his Board of Directors on January 2, moving the election process up by three months. This early start is in contrast to the last election call, which took place in April 2021.
Once the election call is approved in Tuesday’s meeting, it will be sent to the Electoral Board to officially initiate the election process. The club confirmed these details in a statement, which also outlined the procedure for conducting the elections transparently and democratically.
A Term Without Opposition
In the last four terms of Florentino Pérez (2009, 2013, 2017, 2021), the president was elected without opposition, as no other candidates came forward to run. This has ensured continuity in the club’s leadership, keeping Pérez at the helm after more than a decade of leadership.
The electoral process will mark a new chapter for Real Madrid, with expectations for greater openness to new candidates and proposals this time around.
