Rodri undergoes Barcelona medical as his transfer moves forward
Rodri Hernández completed the required medical examinations with FC Barcelona, one of the final procedures needed before formally beginning his new adventure with the Blaugrana.
The Spanish midfielder reported to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, where he underwent the various tests scheduled by the club after arriving in Barcelona to complete the formalities related to his move.
The examination was shorter than usual because Rodri had recently undergone several medical checks with Manchester City, allowing Barça to supplement those results with their own assessments.
Special attention to the midfielder’s physical condition
The check-up carried particular importance given the player’s recent injury history.
Rodri dealt with significant physical problems over the past few seasons and arrived in Barcelona after undergoing back surgery following the World Cup, making an accurate assessment of his condition a priority before fully beginning work with his new team.
Barça intend to carefully manage his adaptation and avoid unnecessary risks as he works his way back to full fitness.
The new Blaugrana project is already waiting for him
With this procedure completed, Rodri can now fully focus on integrating into Hansi Flick’s project, with the German coach considering the Spain international a key piece in strengthening the midfield.
Flick has particularly highlighted his ability to control the tempo of matches, win back possession and provide defensive balance, qualities that could significantly expand Barcelona’s tactical options this season.
Rodri signed with the Catalan club until June 2030, after bringing a seven-season spell with Manchester City to an end.
A signing generating huge expectations
The arrival of the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner represents one of the most significant moves of Barcelona’s transfer window.
Beyond his footballing quality, Barcelona hope his experience and leadership can provide crucial support to a squad packed with young talent, especially in a season in which the club once again has ambitious objectives in both Spain and Europe.
With his medical examinations completed and the formalities surrounding his arrival progressing, Rodri’s next challenge will be to translate all those expectations onto the pitch.
