José Mourinho’s first warning to the Real Madrid dressing room
The Portuguese coach intends to establish a different culture from day one inside a star-studded dressing room.
José Mourinho has not needed much time to begin asserting his authority following his return to Real Madrid.
One of his first priorities is to restore a culture based on hard work, discipline and responsibility, preventing the status of the team’s biggest stars from turning into privileges within the group.
Mourinho believes certain habits can affect a team’s competitiveness if they are not corrected in time.
The message for the current Real Madrid squad
The coach wants to establish clear rules for the entire squad from the outset, regardless of each player’s name or importance within the team. His intention is to prevent small privileges or everyday behaviors from gradually weakening the group’s discipline.
The demands begin even before stepping onto the pitch. Schedules, attitude during training sessions, focus and daily commitment are among the areas Mourinho intends to monitor particularly closely during this new spell.
Talent, but under one shared idea
The warning does not mean Mourinho doubts the quality of his team. Just a few days ago, following the victory over Schalke 04, the Portuguese coach said his squad only contains players who are “good, very good and very, very good.”
That is precisely why his challenge will be to ensure all that individual talent operates under the same identity.
Mourinho appears determined to make it clear from the start that nobody will be above the team’s internal rules, a philosophy that already defined his first spell in Madrid and is once again emerging as one of the pillars of his new project.
