Bayern Munich will face Borussia Dortmund this Saturday in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup without one of its biggest stars. Vincent Kompany, head coach of the Bavarian side, confirmed that Jamal Musiala has not been included in the squad for the match at Signal Iduna Park.
Kompany Confirms Musiala Will Miss the Super Cup
Vincent Kompany confirmed that Jamal Musiala will not be available for the clash between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, as the club continues adjusting his medical treatment.
The absence of the 23-year-old attacking midfielder represents a significant setback for Bayern Munich, particularly in a match that traditionally marks the beginning of a new season in German football. The Bavarian side will be looking to start the campaign with a trophy, although managing the situation of its star player remains the priority.
Musiala undergoing treatment adjustments
According to Kompany, the club is currently working on an adjustment to the medical treatment being followed by Musiala. The coach explained that these adjustments have caused some visible side effects during the player's recent appearances.
"He is not in the squad. It's about him adapting to the treatment," Kompany told reporters.
Sporting director Max Eberl also emphasized the support the club is providing the player during this process. According to his comments, Bayern Munich has rallied around Musiala to accompany him and provide him with all the necessary support.
Dortmund also shows its support
The situation involving Musiala has even prompted a show of solidarity from Bayern Munich's biggest rival. Lars Ricken, sporting director of Borussia Dortmund, acknowledged that the recent episodes involving the attacking midfielder were difficult to watch.
Despite the historic rivalry between the two clubs, the Dortmund executive expressed empathy toward the player and his situation.
Saibari could make his debut
While Musiala will miss the match, Kompany received positive news elsewhere. The coach indicated that new signing Ismael Saibari could see minutes against Borussia Dortmund.
The manager particularly praised the newcomer's power and pace, while noting that he will have an important role once he completes his adaptation process with the team.
As a result, Bayern Munich will enter the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup without Jamal Musiala, but with the opportunity to begin integrating one of its newest additions into the squad.
