Anel Ahmedhodzic sent Sheffield United back to the top of the Championship with the only goal of the game against bottom side Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

After a scramble in the box, Ahmedhodzic collected substitute Callum O'Hare's cross into the box before finishing past Thomas Kaminski to seal an important three points for the Blades. 

The 1-0 win moved Chris Wilder's side above Leeds United, who have to wait until their chance to return to the summit on Monday, when they face fourth-placed Sunderland.

While the two sides sit at opposite ends of the table, it was Luton who threatened the opening goal early on, with Thelo Aasgaard striking the crossbar for the Hatters. 

Elijah Adebayo squandered a close-range effort before the interval before Carlton Morris was kept out by Michael Cooper, with Ben Brereton Diaz hitting the post at the other end. 

The deciding moment of a back-and-forth contest came 11 minutes from time, with Ahmedhodzic showing good composure to tuck the ball into the bottom right-hand corner. 

At Ewood Park, meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers continued to enjoy life without John Eustace after they beat lowly Plymouth Argyle 2-0 to keep their play-off charge alive. 

Eustace completed the switch to Derby County earlier in the week and oversaw a crushing 4-0 loss to Queen's Park Rangers on Friday in his first game in charge of the Rams. 

With David Lowe in caretaker charge, Rovers claimed a second win under his guidance, but they had to be patient to ensure the victory. 

Argyle, buoyed by their FA Cup giant-killing of Liverpool and 5-1 win over Millwall, made a bright start to proceedings but were hit with a sucker punch on the counter and Rovers were ultimately worthy winners.

Adam Forshaw, signed from Plymouth on a short-term deal in January, put the hosts ahead 10 minutes after the restart, netting his first goal since the 2015-16 season. 

And the result was sealed 12 minutes from time when Tyrhys Dolan, who set up the opening goal, rounded off a fine move with a fierce finish into the top left-hand corner. 

Rovers' win keeps them fifth in the table, while Plymouth remain in the bottom three, two points adrift of 21st-placed Hull City, who drew 1-1 with Norwich City on Saturday. 

Frank Lampard's revival of Coventry City also carried on as Ellis Simms' goal in second-half stoppage time earned the Sky Blues a 2-1 away win over Sheffield Wednesday. 

Coventry, who were 17th in the table and two points outside the relegation zone when Lampard took over in November, are now up to seventh, just a point outside the play-offs.

The Owls started strongly at Hillsborough but found themselves behind in the 16th minute when Simms headed the ball beyond the grasp of James Beadle. 

Wednesday looked on course for a point, which would have been the least they deserved, after a fortuitous own goal from Coventry captain Joel Latibeaudiere brought them level.

However, a long ball forward saw Beadle spill the ball into the path of Simms, who sent a scuffed left-footed finish into the net to seal the victory. 

The late error saw Danny Rohl's side miss the chance to break into the top six and instead drop to ninth.

At the opposite end of the table, Lewis Baker netted a stunning goal from inside his own half to help Stoke City come from behind to beat fellow strugglers Swansea City 3-1. 

Josh Tymon handed Luke Williams' side the lead just after the hour, but their advantage lasted just three minutes as Wouter Burger dragged the Potters level. 

Stoke were soon in front as the unmarked Bae Jun-ho touched home from another set-piece, this time delivered by Million Manhoef, but the best was still to come. 

After winning possession back in his own half, Baker looked up and found Lawrence Vigouroux off his line, taking aim from distance and somehow finding the back of the net. 

Stoke's second victory in three Championship games - and their first home league triumph under Mark Robins - leaves them six points clear of the relegation zone in 19th.
