Alianza Lima stamped their authority at the Estadio Alejandro Villanueva, beating Nacional 3-1 (4-2 on aggregate) to secure their place in the next phase of the Copa Libertadores. A Kevin Quevedo brace and a goal from Hernán Barcos sealed the win for the Peruvians, while Orlando Gaona Lugo netted the lone goal for the Paraguayan side.

After a first-leg draw, Alianza Lima came out determined to make their home advantage count. Just 11 minutes in, Quevedo broke the deadlock, but Nacional quickly responded with a stunning long-range strike from Gaona Lugo in the 15th minute, leaving the match level at halftime.

Second-Half Domination

The second half was a different story. In the 50th minute, Eryc Castillo delivered a pinpoint cross that captain Hernán Barcos calmly tapped in to restore Alianza's lead. Just five minutes later, Quevedo struck again to complete his brace and put the tie beyond doubt.

While Alianza Lima celebrated their win, they now face an even tougher test against Boca Juniors, led by Fernando Gago and featuring stars like Edinson Cavani. This showdown will be a massive test of the Peruvian side’s quality, while Nacional bows out of the tournament earlier than hoped.
