Deportes Iquique comeback at home against Independiente Santa Fe in the Libertadores
Deportes Iquique had a dream debut at the Estadio Tierra de Campeones in Chile, coming from behind to defeat Independiente Santa Fe 2-1 in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores Second Round. Chilean hero Edson Puch scored a brace, while Hugo Rodallega netted the goal for the Colombians.
A tough start
The first half started poorly for the home team, as Santa Fe, with their very first play of the match in the 2nd minute, shocked Deportes Iquique. Hugo Rodallega finished off a cross from Mosquera, putting a damper on the Chileans' hopes early on.
However, the next 35 minutes were a different story, as Iquique, spurred on by their fans, pushed offensively against Santa Fe. They managed to level the score with a play similar to Rodallega's. Edson Puch was the one to make it 1-1 in the 35th minute, sealing the draw at halftime.

The comeback in the second half
The second half began just like the first, with an attacking Deportes Iquique side playing as if they had an extra player on the field. Their fans cheered them on from start to finish, believing in the win. Finally, the comeback was completed thanks to Edson Puch, who scored a penalty in the 70th minute. That lead held until the final whistle.
With this result, Deportes Iquique takes the first leg of the Second Round of the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores at home. Now, Independiente Santa Fe will look to pull off a comeback in their own stadium to advance to the next round and keep their hopes alive for La Gloria Eterna.
