Following the passing of the former coach, World Cup champion with the Argentine National Team, César Luis Menotti, CONMEBOL paid its respects to the Argentine legend by observing a minute of silence in both Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana matches.
During the Rosario Central vs. Atlético Mineiro match, the World Cup trophy was present to be part of the minute observed across South America.
Menotti passed away on Sunday, May 5th, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving behind a great legacy, including a World Cup with the Albiceleste in the 1978 World Cup and serving as a national team director during the conquest of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
