Tournament format and prize money
The 2025 Copa Libertadores features 32 clubs split into eight groups of four. Each team plays six games, and the top two in each group move on to the round of 16. The third-placed teams drop into a playoff round in the Copa Sudamericana, fighting for a spot in that tournament’s quarterfinals.
As for the money: each club that made it to the group stage earned USD 3 million. Advancing to the round of 16 brings in another USD 1.2 million. The cash keeps going up—USD 1.7 million for the quarterfinals, USD 2.3 million for the semis, USD 7 million for the runner-up, and a whopping USD 23 million for the champion. On top of that, there are bonuses for wins and goals during the group stage.
Before this phase, there were three qualifying rounds involving 19 teams, with four of them earning a place in the group stage alongside the 28 direct qualifiers. Also, 12 clubs will continue their journey in the Copa Sudamericana, including those eliminated in the third round and the third-place teams from each Libertadores group.
The 2025 CONMEBOL Libertadores is heating up, and as always, you can catch every match live and exclusively on beIN SPORTS USA, the only network with full coverage of South America's biggest club competition.
