Tournament Format and Million-Dollar Stakes
The 2025 Libertadores features 32 teams split into 8 groups of 4. Each club plays six matches, with the top two in each group advancing to the Round of 16. Third-place teams drop into the Sudamericana for a playoff round.
All clubs received USD 3 million for reaching the group stage, with USD 1.2 million added for those who qualify to the next round. The stakes rise from there: USD 1.7 million for quarterfinalists, USD 2.3 million for semifinalists, USD 7 million for the runner-up, and USD 23 million for the champion. Bonus payments are also awarded for wins and goals in the group stage.
