The match will mark the return of international soccer to Ibagué and will also carry a charitable component. Tolima announced a solidarity ticketing initiative to support those affected by the earthquake and fires impacting the region.

This will not be the first time the two clubs have met in the Copa Libertadores. Tolima and Independiente del Valle shared a group during the 2022 edition and faced each other twice.

Their first meeting ended in a 2-2 draw in Ecuador before Tolima earned a 1-0 victory in Ibagué in the return fixture.

That means the Colombian side have never lost to Independiente del Valle in the competition. Tolima will now look to preserve that unbeaten record while building an advantage before the series shifts to Ecuador.
