Libertad and Sportivo Ameliano ended in a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana Round of 16, in a clash between Paraguayan teams.

Ameliano took the lead in the first half, with Alejandro Samudio scoring in the 23rd minute after capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Libertad to tap the ball in.

However, Libertad didn’t back down in the second half. In the 58th minute, Matías Espinoza found himself in the right place and headed the ball powerfully into the net, leveling the score at 1-1, which held until the final whistle.

With this result, Libertad will head to Ameliano's home turf looking for a win to secure a spot in the next round, while Ameliano will aim to prove they’re the stronger Paraguayan side in front of their fans.
