Amount Barcelona Will Receive for Araujo's Injury
FIFA must respond to Barcelona for Ronald Araujo's injury in the Copa América.
Bad news for the Uruguay national team and Barcelona fans, as Ronald Araujo got injured during the Copa America Quarter-Final match between Uruguay and Brazil, where the "Charruas" secured their spot in the next round. However, they lost their starting center-back, who will be out for several weeks.
During the game, around the 30th minute, Araujo felt pain in the back of his left thigh. He stayed on the field, holding his face in his hands, showing signs of sadness and concern about his injury and having to leave the match.
It's confirmed that the injury will keep him out for six to eight weeks, meaning he will miss Barcelona's preseason and the start of the 2024-2025 La Liga season.
Starting August 3rd, Barcelona can use FIFA's protection mechanism, which compensates clubs for player injuries sustained during official FIFA competitions with national teams. Because of Araujo's recovery time, Barcelona could receive up to €719,180 ($776,714), though this amount may change depending on the injury's progression.
