Valverde: 'I Am Sad, Angry, and Disappointed
Fede Valverde continues to lament Uruguay's elimination from the Copa America at the hands of the Colombian national team.
Fede Valverde, player for the Uruguayan national team and Real Madrid, expressed his "sadness and frustration" following his country's elimination in the Copa America semifinals, emphasizing the strong "confidence they had in the team."
"I feel sadness, anger, disappointment, and many difficult emotions to understand right now. We had hope, confidence, and unity in this team like never before," the midfielder commented on Friday on his Instagram account, after Uruguay was knocked out by Colombia with a lone goal from Jefferson Lerma.
'The Little Bird', who was captaining the team for the first time in a competition, highlighted "the peace of mind" in knowing they had given their all "until the last moment," and pledged to "keep fighting" in the future.
"We will keep fighting until there are no more chances left, continuing with this group of teammates who give everything in every training session and every match," affirmed Valverde, also expressing gratitude to everyone who has supported them.
Uruguay will face Canada in the third-place playoff on July 14th at 10 PM (ET) to conclude their tournament participation.
