FA Cup Semifinals Set
The FA Cup semifinal draw has been completed, delivering some very intriguing matchups. These clashes bring rematches and long-awaited returns; without a doubt, the road to Wembley on May 16 will be intense.
The fixtures are: Chelsea vs. Leeds United and Manchester City vs. Southampton. The first matchup brings a rematch of the 1970 final, when Chelsea defeated Leeds United in a replay at Old Trafford, 2-1.
History and Unfinished Business in Chelsea vs Leeds
Leeds United have not reached a semifinal since 1987, when they lost 3-2 to Coventry, who eventually lifted the trophy. On the other hand, Chelsea have not made it to this stage since 2024, when they fell 1-0 to Manchester City. The Blues are aiming to win their ninth FA Cup; it’s worth noting the London side has lost the last three finals they have played and has not lifted the trophy since 2018, when they defeated Manchester United.
Leeds United are looking to make history and claim their second FA Cup, a title they have not won since 1972, when they beat Arsenal 1-0.

City Look to Assert Dominance Against Southampton
The other semifinal also carries plenty of history. Southampton pulled off a surprise win over Arsenal, denying them a chance at the treble, and reached their first semifinal since 2018, when they lost to eventual champions Chelsea. The Saints have not won the competition since 1976, and their last final appearance came in 2003, when they were defeated by Arsenal.
Manchester City, a regular presence in FA Cup semifinals, are chasing their eighth title, which would see them draw level with Chelsea in this competition. Their last semifinal appearance came in 2025, when they knocked out Nottingham Forest before losing the final to Crystal Palace in a monumental upset.
The oldest football competition in the world now has its semifinals set. Who will make it to the final at Wembley?
