Newcastle United booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round after coming from behind to beat League Two outfit Bromley at St. James' Park.

Eddie Howe's side survived an early scare to extend their winning streak across all competitions to eight matches for the first time since 2005 under Graeme Souness.

Bromley were making their first FA Cup third-round appearance in their 132-year history, while this was their first ever match against Premier League opposition.

The visitors took a shock lead after only eight minutes when Swansea City loanee Cameron Congreve brilliantly curled home from the edge of the box.

However, Newcastle were back on level terms just eight minutes later through Lewis Miley's wonderful 25-yard strike.

The Magpies completed the turnaround early in the second half when Anthony Gordon scored from the penalty spot after Matt Targett was felled, while William Osula's fine individual effort put the tie beyond their opponents.

Elsewhere, Kalvin Phillips scored his first goal for Ipswich Town as they eased past Bristol Rovers at Portman Road.

Jack Clarke and Jack Taylor were also on target in a 3-0 victory for the Tractor Boys, who have now progressed from 21 of their last 22 FA Cup third round ties as a top-flight side. 

At Selhurst Park, Eberechi Eze's early strike was enough to see Crystal Palace overcome Stockport County.

Eze netted his first FA Cup goal on his 15th appearance in the competition, whilst three of his five goals across all competitions this season have come in cup competitions. 

However, Championship strugglers Hull City were dumped out by League Two side Doncaster Rovers, who prevailed 5-4 in a penalty shootout at the MKM Stadium.

The Tigers have now lost all three of their penalty shootouts in the FA Cup, losing to Wrexham in November 1995 (1-3), to Stevenage in November 2020 (5-6) and to Doncaster (4-5). Only Blackburn Rovers have taken part in more penalty shootouts in the FA Cup without winning a single one (four).
