(VIDEO) Barcelona's Tribute to DANA Flood Victims
Just before kickoff, the crowd attending the match between Barcelona and Espanyol held a respectful minute of silence in tribute to the victims of the floods that have caused over 200 deaths, mostly in the Valencia region.
Additionally, Barcelona players Aitana Bonmatí and Lamine Yamal, winners of the Ballon d'Or and Kopa Trophy respectively, were honored by the fans at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys prior to the minute of silence held in memory of the flood victims at the derby against Espanyol.
The Barça women’s team midfielder, who won her second Ballon d'Or this past Monday, took to the field with her trophy and received resounding applause from the Barça fans.
Lamine Yamal also presented the award he received in Paris as the best young player of last season before Robert Lewandowski did the same, with the Mataró striker handing him the LaLiga EA Sports Player of the Month award for October.
