(VIDEO) Hansi Flick and the Unexpected Encounter with a Delivery Driver
We may have witnessed one of the most bizarre moments of the season for FC Barcelona. On the eve of their match against Las Palmas, an unreal and completely spontaneous encounter took place with Hansi Flick as the protagonist.
The Encounter Between Hansi Flick and the Delivery Driver
The Barcelona coach attended to a delivery driver at the entrance of the team’s facilities, who was looking for Robert Lewandowski to deliver a package, as shown in a video captured by El Chiringuito.
While the coach was busy attending to a fan, the delivery driver asked him to call the Polish forward, as he had a package for him. We don’t know how this situation unfolded, but we hope the striker received it.
Hansi Flick Confirms Lamine Yamal’s Return
The Barcelona coach confirmed that winger Lamine Yamal, who has been absent from the last three matches due to an ankle injury, will be medically cleared to face Las Palmas this Saturday at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
"Lamine is back and ready to play. We haven’t decided if he’ll be in the starting lineup, we’ll see, but he can play and he will play," said the German coach during a press conference at the Joan Gamper Training Center.
Flick emphasized that on Saturday, he expects the team to maintain "the same style, intensity, and concentration" as in their 3-0 victory over Brest on Tuesday, and that the team is "focused" on the match against Las Palmas, regardless of the upcoming fixtures.
"We’ve decided that tomorrow, the best players and those in the best condition will play, without worrying about minutes," Flick explained when asked if center-back Iñigo Martínez might rest at the start of the match on Saturday.
Updates on Gavi, Araujo, and De Jong
Flick revealed that midfielder Pablo Páez Gavira 'Gavi', who he praised as "100% recovered" and "has the potential to elevate his game," "will play" against Las Palmas.
Regarding center-back Ronald Araujo’s recovery, the German coach explained that "he’s training with more intensity every day" and although he did not set a return date, he mentioned that "he’s very close to being able to play again."
The most frequently mentioned name during the press conference, however, was midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Since his return on October 1 against Young Boys, De Jong has struggled to establish himself in the team.
"De Jong has come back after a long injury and he’s doing very well, but in midfield, there are many good players, and I have to pick those who are 100%. When we can give him minutes, we do. He has to prove in training that he’s fully recovered. He’s on the right track," Flick explained.
After reminding everyone that the Dutchman "took a hard blow in Belgrade," Flick admitted that "it’s necessary for him to regain confidence," and for that, "minutes are important," but he also emphasized that "winning is important."
"I want the best team on the field, which is why he doesn’t have as many minutes as we’d all like. He will definitely be back, it’s nothing serious, but it takes time," he added.
When asked about the boos from a section of the crowd toward De Jong in the last match, Flick replied that he "would like" the fans to "support all the players."
Finally, Flick explained that he has "no information" about when Barcelona will return to Spotify Camp Nou and stated that "it’s an honor to be the coach of Barça" on the club's 125th anniversary.
