Ancelotti Blesses Marcelo's Son: "If he Reaches his Father's Level..."
Enzo Alves, Marcelo's son, was the star of the Real Madrid youth team's victory against Atlético Madrid in the eyes of Carlo Ancelotti
The longevity of Carlo Ancelotti can be understood by things like what happened this past weekend at the Real Madrid Training Center. At the end of the last century, he shared a locker room with Paolo Maldini and, years later, became his coach at Milan. Now, in 2025, he has blessed Enzo Alves, Marcelo's son, a few years after coaching his father at Real Madrid.

Marcelo's son shone in the derby against Atlético Madrid
Beyond the first team's victory against Leganés, Enzo Alves's name has been the main highlight over the weekend in the Real Madrid environment. Yesterday, Sunday, the youth derby between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid took place in a titanic battle for the league title… and Álvaro Arbeloa surprised everyone by calling up Marcelo's son to play a match two age categories above what is appropriate for his 15 years.
The game was tied (0-0) in the final minutes, and Arbeloa decided to bring on Enzo Alves in search of victory. Just five minutes later, he delivered a backheel assist that reminded everyone of Guti's assist to Benzema, with which Real Madrid won the game… and possibly the youth league. Present at Valdebebas was Marcelo, who couldn’t believe what his son had done… just days after receiving a call-up to play with the Spain U-17 team.
Ancelotti praises Marcelo's son
Another person present in the stands at Valdebebas, just a few rows behind Marcelo, was Carlo Ancelotti, who decided to attend the match once the first team’s training had finished, along with his son Davide and several members of the coaching staff. Therefore, Enzo Alves couldn’t have picked a better time to present himself to the eyes of the person who could one day become his coach at Real Madrid.
For this reason, they asked Ancelotti about him ahead of the Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad match in the Copa del Rey… and he didn’t hesitate to shower praise on Marcelo's son: “He played very well. He’s a very smart forward with a lot of potential. He’s doing well in the Cadete, and the whole club is very excited about him. If he reaches his father’s level, bingo!”
