Ancelotti Breaks Silence on Barcelona vs. LaLiga Over Dani Olmo Case
Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, opted for a calm and neutral stance regarding the ongoing legal dispute between Barcelona, LaLiga, and Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD) over the controversial registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Despite the noise surrounding the case, the Italian coach believes it does not compromise the integrity of the competition.
“Not My Business,” Says Ancelotti
When asked directly if Barcelona is being allowed to “play by different rules,” Ancelotti quickly shut down any potential controversy.
“It’s not a question for me. I don’t want to comment on this matter,” he stated during his press conference at Ciudad Real Madrid.
Pressed again on whether the situation could taint the fairness of LaLiga, the coach remained firm but brief:
“No, I don’t think so.”
Legal Battle Between LaLiga and CSD
The dispute erupted after the CSD overturned a decision made by the joint RFEF-LaLiga commission, which had previously denied the renewal of the player licenses for Olmo and Pau Víctor, citing that their registrations had automatically expired on December 31, 2024, per league regulations.
LaLiga, led by Javier Tebas, announced plans to take the case to ordinary courts, arguing the decision was “not in accordance with the law.” On the other hand, the CSD insists that the commission lacks the authority to block player registrations, thus sparking a regulatory standoff.
While the legal fallout continues to unfold, Ancelotti and Real Madrid are staying focused on the pitch—leaving the politics of football to those off it.
