Ancelotti's Farewell Compared to Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Departures
Carlo Ancelotti’s upcoming exit from Real Madrid has sparked reactions throughout LaLiga, with some comparing it to the departures of legends like Messi and Cristiano.
A Departure That Leaves a Mark on LaLiga
Next weekend, Carlo Ancelotti will coach his final match as manager of Real Madrid against Real Sociedad, closing out a memorable chapter at the helm of the Spanish giants. His farewell hasn’t gone unnoticed, and ahead of the match between Real Madrid and Sevilla FC, manager Joaquín Caparrós didn’t hesitate to describe the Italian’s departure as a major loss for Spanish football.
“When players like Sergio Ramos, Lionel Messi, or Cristiano Ronaldo leave, LaLiga loses something. And with Carlo’s departure, it loses value as well,” said the Andalusian coach, emphasizing the Italian’s impact beyond trophies.
And the numbers speak for themselves: during his two spells at the club, Ancelotti has won 15 titles, including three Champions Leagues, two LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, two Spanish Super Cups, along with international honors like the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
A True Role Model On and Off the Pitch
For Caparrós, what makes Ancelotti special goes beyond his achievements. “He’s a role model for all coaches, young and old alike. The way he speaks in press conferences, how he carries himself within the club—he knows how to win and how to lose,” he added.
The Sevilla coach highlighted that Ancelotti’s legacy extends far beyond tactics and trophies. His leadership style has left a lasting impression on a generation of managers. And although he’s set to lead Brazil’s national team next, his departure will leave a difficult void to fill in LaLiga.
Carlo Ancelotti’s farewell signals the end of an era at Real Madrid and in Spanish football. As Caparrós noted, “When someone like him leaves, we all lose a little.”
