Barcelona's Performance in El Clásico Since Partnering with Artists
Since FC Barcelona began its innovative strategy of merging music and football through collaborations with artists, several Clásico matches have featured these partnerships. With Spotify’s sponsorship, the club has worn special jerseys showcasing the logos of iconic figures such as Drake, Rosalía, Karol G, and The Rolling Stones. However, the results in these matches have been mixed for the Blaugrana side.
The first collaboration with an artist took place in October 2022, when Barça debuted its jersey featuring Drake’s logo. In that Clásico, corresponding to Matchday 9 of LaLiga, Real Madrid claimed a 3-1 victory, marking a bitter debut for this musical initiative.
In March 2023, Barcelona gave it another shot with a special jersey, this time featuring Rosalía’s “Motomami” emblem. On this occasion, Xavi Hernández's team had better luck, securing a 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Matchday 26, with a last-minute goal from Franck Kessié.
In October 2023, the club surprised fans once again, collaborating with the legendary band The Rolling Stones. During the Matchday 11 Clásico, Barça achieved another 2-1 victory over Real Madrid, cementing a positive streak with these themed jerseys.
However, in April 2024, on Matchday 32, Barcelona suffered another Clásico defeat, this time wearing the jersey in partnership with Karol G. Real Madrid emerged victorious 3-2 in an exciting match, breaking the Catalan club’s winning streak with musical jerseys.
With the recent announcement that Coldplay will be the next group to join this initiative, Barcelona hopes for better luck in the Clásico on October 26, 2024, at the Bernabéu. Beyond connecting football with music culture, the club aims for these special designs to bring more sporting success.
