Barcelona's Return to Camp Nou Delayed
According to Betevé, the FC Barcelona will not return to its iconic stadium before next autumn.
Barcelona fans are closely following the renovations at Camp Nou, eagerly awaiting the chance to once again fill the stands of their legendary home. The club’s management had initially planned for a return in May, with hopes of playing El Clásico against Real Madrid on May 11 in front of 60,000 spectators. However, this scenario is becoming increasingly unlikely.
According to Betevé, it is improbable that the Blaugranas will play at their stadium this season. The Barcelona public television channel revealed that several Camp Nou service providers have received notice that they will not be able to resume operations at the venue before November 2025.
A Delay That Impacts the Club
This date contradicts the official stance of Barcelona, which recently requested an extension to its contract for using the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys. This means the team will complete its second consecutive season away from Camp Nou and may even start a third under the same conditions, affecting its financial forecasts and compliance with LaLiga’s fair play regulations.
The construction delay adds to a long list of setbacks. Initially, Joan Laporta and his team aimed for a return in November 2024, aligning with the club’s 125th anniversary. However, the reopening is now projected for November 2025, a full year behind schedule, with the possibility of further postponements. Additionally, Barcelona is still awaiting approval from the city council and residents of the Les Corts neighborhood to allow construction work to continue 24/7.
