Hansi Flick on Barcelona Reclaiming La Liga Lead
FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick downplayed the importance of regaining the La Liga EA Sports top spot after their 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano, stating that "nothing changes" and that the team must keep fighting until the end to win the title.
Praise for Rayo and Match Analysis
In his post-match press conference at the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys, Flick praised Íñigo Pérez for his work with Rayo Vallecano and acknowledged the challenges Barcelona faced. "Rayo plays very well, it was a tough match. We had chances, missed them, but we're happy with the three points," he said.
Lewandowski, Pedri, and the Koundé Situation
The coach praised Pedri, calling him "an extraordinary footballer." He also addressed Robert Lewandowski’s frustration after being subbed off, making it clear that "it’s my decision, and players have to accept it."
Additionally, Flick explained why Jules Koundé, a regular starter, began on the bench, revealing that he arrived late to the pre-match meeting. "On matchday, everyone knows what needs to be done. There are two or three meetings, and it's important for players to be present. It’s not a hard rule to follow, and it’s not just up to me, but the team and the club," Flick stated, adding that he will discuss the matter with Koundé.
