Isco Returns to the Pitch After Nearly Seven Months Out
Attacking midfielder Isco Alarcón, called up on Friday by Real Betis' manager, the Chilean Manuel Pellegrini, for Saturday's match at the Benito Villamarín stadium against FC Barcelona, is making his return to the pitch nearly seven months after suffering an injury towards the end of last season.
The player from Málaga, who entered the field in the 76th minute in place of the youth player Mateo Flores, suffered a fibula injury in the match last season against Las Palmas on May 16. After a setback in his recovery at the start of this campaign, he began working with the ball at Betis' training complex on November 18.
A much-anticipated return
After his injury in Las Palmas, Isco, 32, underwent surgery, but the lack of proper healing in the operated area required a second intervention in early September. After this procedure, he had been working with the team for a few weeks, which allowed him to finally return to play with Real Betis.
