Joao Felix is Having his Best Season Yet
Barcelona's forward Joao Félix has now scored 10 goals, with his latest in the LaLiga victory against Cádiz (0-1), matching his best scoring records from his time at Atlético de Madrid. And this is with Barcelona still having at least eight games left to play.
With his half-bicycle kick goal at Nuevo Mirandilla, he bagged his tenth goal of the season, matching what he achieved with Atlético in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, where he played 40 and 35 games respectively.
"He's a really talented player, feeling good, happy, and had a great game. Not just with the goal, but he's also putting in the work, pressing, understanding when to drop deep, and we give him the freedom to roam," Xavi Hernández praised the Portuguese after the match against Cádiz.
He's matched his best scoring figures with Atlético in 37 games and 1,973 minutes played. In the 2020-21 season, he played 2,349 minutes, and in the 2021-22 season, he clocked 2,047 minutes.
Moreover, 8 out of the 10 goals he's scored this season have put Barça in the lead.
Félix has also excelled as an assist provider this season, with six assists, one more than he managed with Atlético in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
However, Joao Félix's scoring stats with Barcelona still fall short of what he achieved with Benfica in the 2018-2019 season, where he stood out and made the leap to the European elite, scoring 20 goals and providing 8 assists.
