Koundé Takes Responsibility After Barcelona's Draw Against Celta
French international Jules Koundé owned up to his mistakes following Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Celta de Vigo at Balaídos, particularly his role in the first goal conceded.
“We didn’t bring the intensity required throughout the game, and we paid the price—starting with me. I didn’t have a good match at all, lacked focus, and it cost us dearly on such a simple play. It’s a big mistake that shouldn’t happen. I take responsibility for it because it put us in a tough spot,” Koundé admitted.
The Barça defender described the critical play: “Even though I clearly saw the ball go out, I needed to keep going. It’s the little details that show I wasn’t at my best today. I accept it, but there’s no need to dwell on it.” Koundé acknowledged the missed opportunity, noting, “We dropped two very important points here,” but he remains hopeful the team can learn from the experience.
“In our recent matches, we haven’t been playing well, so it’s time to get back to our best. This is where we’ll see if the group has character. Now that we’ve dropped points, we need to stay united and find our top form again,” he concluded.
