Lamine Yamal and UNICEF's Inspiring Message for Children Around the World
Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal marked International Children’s Rights Day with an emotional video shared on his Instagram account this Wednesday, in collaboration with UNICEF. Through the message, the young talent aims to highlight the importance of children’s rights and raise awareness about them.
Accompanied by his younger brother, Keyne, Yamal reads a letter addressed to him and “all the children in the world.” In his message, the winger emphasizes that “all children have special rights that protect them and help them grow up happy and healthy,” as stated in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
“Did you know that playing is a right? Fortunately, I played a lot as a child, and now I’m lucky enough to keep playing. Want to know a secret? When I step onto the pitch, I’m still the same kid who enjoys playing football,” confessed the Spanish international, highlighting that the key to his success lies in “not being afraid to lose.”
At just 17 years old, Lamine underscores the importance of play in childhood, asserting that “playing makes you grow up happy” and that it doesn’t matter how you do it: “With friends, alone, or with toys; what matters is that you enjoy it.”
The young footballer concluded his message with a clear commitment: “You are the future. Always remember to play and be happy. I will always be here to help you achieve that, and now I’m also joining UNICEF so that together we can ensure children’s rights are fulfilled.”
