Mason Greenwood Urges Halt to Investigation Against Bellingham
The Getafe player has petitioned to prevent Competition from accusing the midfielder of calling him a "rapist."
Mason Greenwood, a player for Getafe, has attempted to intercede on behalf of Jude Bellingham to persuade the Federation to cease the investigation against the Real Madrid midfielder, after the Englishman allegedly called him a "rapist."
Following the match between Getafe and Real Madrid, held on February 1st, the 'azulón' team filed a complaint with LaLiga over the alleged clash between Greenwood and Bellingham, which reportedly ended with the latter calling him a "rapist" during the match. The incident quickly went viral on social media and divided fan opinion.
"Mason has told them he doesn't want Jude to be punished and has asked them to drop it. He doesn't want bad publicity and wants to keep playing football," a source close to the Getafe player told the British outlet, The Sun.
With no sanction issued yet, the investigation is ongoing while the English midfielder recovers from a sprained ankle injury suffered in the Real Madrid-Girona match.

It is worth noting that Greenwood, while playing for Manchester United, was accused by his partner, model Harriet Robson, of rape and assault in January 2022. Following the accusation, the Briton was separated from the Red Devils; however, after the charges were dropped in February 2023, the 22-year-old was sent on loan to Getafe.
