Real Madrid Takes LaLiga Lead with Kylian Mbappé’s Brace Against Las Palmas
Kylian Mbappé was the standout player in Real Madrid’s 4-1 thrashing of Las Palmas, leading his team to the top spot in LaLiga. In a match where Vinícius Júnior was unavailable due to a suspension, the French forward stepped up as the absolute leader, scoring twice and creating key chances.
A Surprise Early Goal from Las Palmas
The game kicked off with a shock. Las Palmas took the lead with the very first play of the match. Alberto Moleiro caused chaos in Real Madrid’s defense, and after a mistake from Lucas Vázquez, Fábio Silva scored the fastest goal the Madrid defense had conceded since 2011.
Mbappé’s Response
The Las Palmas goal acted as a wake-up call for Madrid, who started to press. Brahim Díaz missed a clear chance, but Mbappé took charge. First, he equalized with a penalty (18') after Sandro Ramírez fouled Rodrygo in the box. Then, he took on playmaking duties, creating assists and getting the team moving.
The Comeback and Mbappé’s Goal
Real Madrid’s first goal came in the 33rd minute when Brahim Díaz scored after a long shot from Mbappé, which was saved by Las Palmas’ goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen. Just three minutes later, Mbappé bagged his second goal after a brilliant pass from Rodrygo, making it 3-1.
Even though a goal from Mbappé in the 42nd minute was ruled out by VAR for offside, Madrid had already taken control of the game.
The Second Half and a Comfortable Win
In the second half, Rodrygo capped off his great performance with a goal in the 57th minute. Also, David Alaba made his return to the field after almost a year of injury, receiving a warm ovation. The red card for Benito Ramírez after a harsh tackle on Lucas Vázquez made things even worse for Las Palmas, who were overwhelmed by Real Madrid’s dominance.
With this win, Real Madrid climbed to the top of LaLiga, going two points ahead of Atlético de Madrid and seven ahead of Barcelona. Mbappé and Rodrygo were the key figures in the comeback and victory, proving that Madrid is still a strong title contender.
