Real Madrid Wants to Sign from Liverpool... and It's Not Alexander-Arnold
‘Daily Mail’ reports that Ibrahima Konaté is one of Real Madrid's main targets to reinforce their defense
If Real Madrid's plan doesn’t change after Fede Valverde's brilliant performances as right-back, Real Madrid will sign Trent-Alexander Arnold as a free agent next season. However, this is not the only signing they want to make from Liverpool. According to Daily Mail, Ibrahima Konaté is the main target to strengthen the defense.

Real Madrid's strategy with Konaté
Konaté was signed from Leipzig in 2021 for 40 million euros. However, he has suffered from numerous physical issues that have prevented him from showcasing his full potential... until this season, where he has settled in as the sidekick to Virgil Van Dijk. In fact, he is just three games away from surpassing his season with the most starts at Liverpool.
Unlike Trent-Alexander Arnold, Ibrahima Konaté still has an active contract with Liverpool, and if Real Madrid is interested in acquiring his services, they will have to negotiate a transfer fee. However, his contractual situation works against Liverpool, as his contract expires in June 2026, and they haven't started negotiations for an extension.
PSG also wants Konaté
At 25 years old, Konaté has become the great center-back he was expected to be when he emerged at Leipzig. This is why he has caught the attention of not only Real Madrid. According to Daily Mail, PSG is also very interested in signing him. Therefore, tonight will be a good test to observe him closely.
If a bidding war opens up, Real Madrid is fully aware that they cannot compete with the financial power of PSG. Otherwise, as happened with Tchouaméni, the transfer fee could increase significantly... even though he has only one year left on his contract. In that case, Real Madrid's strategy would be to wait and try to sign Konaté for free.
