Simeone Aligns with Ancelotti on Dani Olmo Case
The Argentine coach expressed his expectation that "the rules will simply be upheld for everyone."
Diego Simeone, head coach of Atlético de Madrid, addressed three questions on Friday regarding the situation of Dani Olmo, whom Barcelona failed to keep registered in LaLiga before the December 31 deadline.
“And, of course, I have no doubt it will happen that way. If he can keep playing, great; and if the rules don’t allow him to play, then he won’t play,” Simeone added during Friday's press conference in Majadahonda, ahead of the Copa del Rey Round of 32 match against Marbella.
The Importance of Following the Rules
The Atlético boss emphasized the need for consistent application of the rules for all teams. “As coaches, we need the rules established for all clubs to be respected, and we must work within that framework. We have no other ground to stand on, just like any other team,” Simeone stated.
When pressed further on the topic, Simeone redirected attention to the immediate challenge. “I understand the need to seek opinions and, of course, the expectations placed on us as coaches. Honestly, what matters to me is the game against Marbella. Everything else is out of my control. We need to win the match against Marbella. After that, keep asking questions and see if someone else takes the bait on the issue,” he concluded, putting an end to the discussion about Dani Olmo.
