Will Cristiano Ronaldo Return to Real Madrid for a Final Tribute?
Cristiano Ronaldo has once again expressed his love for Madrid and his desire to receive a final tribute at the Santiago Bernabéu. In an interview with La Sexta, the Portuguese star admitted that he misses the Spanish capital and does not rule out the possibility of returning to bid farewell to the Real Madrid fans.
Arriving at Real Madrid in 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed his best years at the club, winning four Champions League titles and becoming the all-time top scorer in its history. However, his departure in 2018 to Juventus was not as he had hoped. "I wanted a new challenge, but the way my departure happened was not ideal. The president did not handle it well with me, although I understand that's how he operates," the Portuguese forward confessed.
Spain in His Heart
The former Manchester United player also spoke about his special bond with Spain, beyond football. "Spain is my home, my children grew up there. It's where I was happiest in my career, and I will always carry Madrid in my heart," said Cristiano Ronaldo.
As he approaches his 40th birthday, the Al-Nassr striker dreams of returning to the Santiago Bernabéu for a grand farewell. "I left a legacy, a mark on the club. Maybe at the end of my career, we can do something special with 80,000 people in the stadium," he stated.
While his return as a player seems unlikely, Real Madrid will surely honor him when the time comes. After 438 matches and 450 goals in the white shirt, the story of Cristiano Ronaldo and the Santiago Bernabéu may still have one final chapter left to be written.
