Will Hansi Flick Extend His Contract with Barcelona? The Coach Responds
The future of Hansi Flick at FC Barcelona remains uncertain. Despite having a contract until June 2026, the German coach has made it clear that he is in no rush to discuss a renewal.
Flick Is Not Concerned About His Future
In the pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona’s clash against Sevilla, Flick emphasized that his focus is on the present, and he still has time to make decisions about his long-term future.
"I am not under pressure. I really enjoy working for this club, and I believe we have a lot of potential. We have very talented players coming through from La Masia. I still have a year left on my contract, and for a coach, that is a long time," Flick stated.
Squad Depth and Player Rotations Have Been Key
Flick also spoke about the team's progress in recent months, highlighting the importance of having more players available and managing squad rotations effectively.
"It’s not just about eleven or twelve players, but the whole team. We have many options, which helps us control the workload of the players. Fresh legs are crucial, and having a deep squad benefits us," the German coach explained.
Regarding the upcoming Madrid Derby between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, Flick admitted that he will watch the game but won’t dwell too much on the result.
"First, I will watch Barça Atlètic, then I will have dinner, and maybe I will watch the derby. We always focus on ourselves, but of course, it’s an interesting match between two of the best teams in Europe," he admitted.
Lewandowski to Start Against Sevilla
As for his starting lineup for the match at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, Flick confirmed that Robert Lewandowski will be in the starting XI, despite Ferran Torres delivering an outstanding performance against Valencia. However, he did not guarantee whether players like Gavi, Dani Olmo, or Íñigo Martínez will feature from the start.
