Dani Carvajal Undergoes Successful Surgery and Begins a New Recovery Process
Real Madrid has confirmed yet another injury setback for their captain, Dani Carvajal, who underwent successful surgery on his right knee this Monday after doctors detected “the presence of a loose intra-articular body.” The procedure, performed by Dr. Manuel Leyes under the supervision of the club’s medical staff, marks the beginning of a new recovery phase for the defender, who now faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
A Relapse No One Saw Coming
The news came as a surprise to both the club and fans, as there were no visible signs of discomfort during Sunday’s Clásico against Barcelona. Carvajal entered the match in the 72nd minute, replacing Fede Valverde, and finished the game without apparent issues. However, shortly after the final whistle, he began to feel pain in the operated area, prompting medical examinations early Monday morning.
Tests revealed the presence of a small loose fragment in the same knee he injured last season — the one that kept him out for nine months following an ACL tear suffered on October 9, 2024, against Villarreal.
Expected to Miss Two to Three Months
While the official medical statement did not specify an exact recovery timeline, early reports suggest that Carvajal could be sidelined for two to three months. It’s another tough blow for the veteran full-back, who had worked relentlessly to regain his best form after a string of injuries this season — including a muscular issue suffered in the Madrid derby against Atlético.
Carvajal had recently returned to full fitness, hoping to reclaim his spot in Xabi Alonso’s starting lineup and build rhythm ahead of his major goal: being in top form for the 2026 World Cup with Spain.
A Captain Who Refuses to Give Up
Despite the setback, confidence remains high at Valdebebas that Carvajal — one of the most respected leaders in the dressing room — will approach this new challenge with his trademark resilience and determination.
He is set to begin his rehabilitation in the coming days under the close supervision of Real Madrid’s physiotherapists and medical staff.
The road to recovery will not be easy, but if history is any indication, Dani Carvajal will once again rise to the occasion — returning stronger, hungrier, and as committed as ever to the badge he has defended for over a decade.
