Real Madrid Change Mbappé Plans: Will He Be Ready for El Clásico?
What seemed settled after the semi-final has shifted once again. A late adjustment has put the spotlight back on one key question.
A message that sounded final… but wasn’t
“Mbappé travels tomorrow.” With that statement, Xabi Alonso appeared to confirm Kylian Mbappé would rejoin Real Madrid immediately after booking their place in the Spanish Super Cup final against Atlético de Madrid.
The assumption was straightforward: Mbappé would fly in the morning and take part in Friday’s training session in Jeddah, the final workout before the title match. But that plan quickly changed.
A logistical tweak that reopens the question
According to reports from Cadena COPE, Mbappé will not travel in the morning as initially expected. Instead, the French star will remain in Madrid to train on Friday morning and will only fly to Saudi Arabia late in the afternoon or evening.
That adjustment means Mbappé is set to arrive in Jeddah well into the early hours, effectively ruling him out of Friday’s on-pitch session. A minor detail on paper—but a notable one given his recent recovery and the careful management of his workload.

When will Mbappé join the squad?
Under the revised schedule, Mbappé will officially link up with the Real Madrid squad on Saturday, just one day before the final. From that point on, his condition will be closely assessed by the coaching staff, both physically and tactically.
Inside the club, there is insistence that the travel change does not rule out his involvement. Still, it does narrow the window for him to regain full match rhythm ahead of a high-intensity final.
All eyes on Xabi Alonso’s final call
For now, Mbappé’s availability against FC Barcelona remains a genuine unknown. Everything suggests the decision will go down to the wire and will only be confirmed when Xabi Alonso names his starting XI for the Spanish Super Cup final.
Mbappé will make the trip, he will be with the group—and whether he starts, comes off the bench, or watches from the sidelines will be the final mystery before El Clásico decides the trophy.
