Real Madrid Puts Jarell Quansah on Its Radar

  • Real Madrid continues to explore options to strengthen its defense, with Jarell Quansah, one of Bayer Leverkusen and England's key players, emerging as one of the names attracting interest from the Spanish club.

Real Madrid Looks to the Market Again to Strengthen Its Defense

Defense remains one of the biggest concerns for Real Madrid. Despite the moves made during recent transfer windows, José Mourinho's side is still searching for greater stability and has already begun exploring alternatives for the future.

One of the names on the radar is Jarell Quansah. According to Sport BILD, Real Madrid has shown strong interest in the Bayer Leverkusen defender, although there are currently no formal negotiations between the clubs.

The Englishman is 23 years old and has established himself as one of the most interesting young defenders in the Bundesliga. His primary position is center back, but his ability to also play at right back increases his appeal for a team looking for more options across its back line.

Quansah Establishes Himself After Leaving Liverpool

Quansah left Liverpool in the summer of 2025 to begin a new chapter with Bayer Leverkusen. The German club confirmed at the time that the defender had signed a contract through June 2030.

Standing at 6-foot-3, the England international stands out for his speed, strength in duels, and ability to play out from the back. Those qualities were highlighted by Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen's sporting director, when the club announced his signing.

His development has not gone unnoticed with England either. Thomas Tuchel has taken advantage of his versatility by using him both in central defense and on the right side, a position where he also competes with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Arsenal Already Tried to Sign the England Defender

Real Madrid is not the only major club to have followed Quansah. During the most recent transfer window, Arsenal opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen in an attempt to sign the defender.

The Guardian reported in August that the German club wanted at least €50 million before it would begin considering his departure. The negotiations did not result in an agreement, and Arsenal eventually strengthened its defense with Ezri Konsa.

The situation is different now. Quansah continues to develop in Germany, while his contract puts Bayer Leverkusen in a strong negotiating position, especially because he is tied to the club until 2030.

Bellingham and Trent Could Be Allies for Real Madrid

If Real Madrid's interest develops further, Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold could provide two familiar faces for Quansah inside the Madrid locker room.

The center back shares the England national team with Bellingham and knows Alexander-Arnold particularly well after playing alongside him at Liverpool.

For now, however, the situation remains at the interest stage. There is no confirmed offer from Real Madrid and no agreement with either the player or Bayer Leverkusen.

A Profile That Fits What Mourinho Is Looking For

Although Quansah is right-footed and would not specifically solve the search for a left-footed center back, his profile offers several characteristics that could appeal to Mourinho.

His speed allows him to defend higher up the pitch, he provides a strong physical presence in the air, and he can adapt to different defensive systems. His ability to play both center back and right back would also give the Portuguese coach different options without having to completely reshape the team.

At 23, Quansah still has considerable room for development and already has experience in the Premier League, Bundesliga, and with the England national team.

Real Madrid has yet to make a formal move, but Quansah has emerged as one of the defenders to watch if the club decides to return to the market to strengthen an area that continues to raise concerns.

Quansah Emerges as an Option for Real Madrid's Defense

  • Real Madrid is keeping a close eye on 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah, according to Sport BILD.
  • Quansah is under contract until 2030 and can play both center back and right back.
  • Arsenal already attempted to sign him during the most recent transfer window, while Real Madrid has yet to submit a formal offer.
