The Most Monumental Superclásico in History: River vs Boca Will Break Attendance Record
River Plate sold out just two hours after putting tickets on sale for the match against Boca Juniors this week
River Plate managed to respond in time during their visit to Ecuador, bringing back to Argentina a valuable point against Independiente Del Valle, which secured their position at the top of Group B in the Copa Libertadores… and allowed Marcelo Gallardo to become the first coach in history to lead the same team in 100 matches in the competition. A result that will surely give River Plate momentum as they face the most Monumental Superclásico in history against River Plate.

Superclásico tickets sold out in just two hours
Despite the tough moment River Plate is going through in the Argentine League—despite only suffering one loss all season—Buenos Aires is dressing up to host the 264th edition of the Superclásico in Argentina, at River Plate’s Mas Monumental stadium. In fact, River Plate put the tickets on sale and within just two hours had to hang the ‘sold out’ sign at the ticket windows... and that makes 85 in a row. Right now, tickets to enjoy the next Superclásico at the Monumental de River have become the most sought-after item in Argentina.
A total of 85,018 fans will attend on April 27 at the Monumental de River Plate to witness the Superclásico against Boca Juniors. All thanks to renovations completed at the end of 2024, which turned River’s home into the largest stadium in South America, allowing the upcoming Superclásico to break the attendance record. Additionally, investments in new technologies have improved the experience, streamlining connectivity for over 350,000 members through the River ID digital system.
The Modernization of River Plate under Jorge Brito
Since Jorge Brito took over as president in 2021, River Plate has been focused on implementing a modern management model. The club currently enjoys excellent financial health, having earned more than 60 million dollars, according to figures from the last fiscal year. In addition to improving the roster, River Plate has also invested heavily in infrastructure and its prestigious academy, continuing to be the club that has exported the most players to Europe during the 21st Century.
The renovations carried out in all the stands of the Mas Monumental allowed River Plate to increase the stadium’s capacity by more than 1,100 seats, reaching a total of 85,018 spectators, who will cheer nonstop hoping River Plate can extend their impressive streak in recent Boca Juniors visits. In fact, they’ve only lost once in the last six matches held at a Monumental where Marcelo Gallardo remains undefeated against Boca Juniors. If they say La Bombonera shakes… The Monumental is about to take off.
