Lille Settle for a Draw Against Toulouse
Despite being unbeaten in five matches, Lille couldn't secure a win against Carles Martínez's Toulouse, resulting in a draw. This outcome keeps Lille stagnant in their quest to reach the top spots in France's Ligue 1.
Under Paulo Fonseca, the team recorded their second consecutive draw, the third in five matches, and falls behind in the race for a Champions League spot. At the Pierre Mauroy Stadium, Leny Yoro's goal gave them the lead after half an hour, but in the second half, Thijs Dallinga equalized for Toulouse. Toulouse remains winless and in danger of relegation, with Clermont following suit despite their victory over Lorient.
The Gabriel Montpied Stadium witnessed two teams in a fierce battle for survival. However, Clermont, second to last, secured a win with a penalty converted by Shamar Nicholson. They are now two points behind Lorient, who occupies the relegation play-off spot.
Metz, on the other hand, distances itself from the lower ranks with another victory. They defeated Nantes at the Saint Symphorien Stadium, dealing Nantes its third consecutive defeat. Laszlo Boloni's team took the lead after three minutes through Algerian Kevin Den den Kerkhov, but Nigerian Moses Simon equalized before the quarter-hour mark.
Simon Elisor restored Metz's lead in the 28th minute and secured their third win of the season with a goal from Swedish player Joel Asoro five minutes from the end.
