Luis Enrique and PSG Prepare for a Tough Test Against Toulouse
The final FIFA international break of the year has concluded, and we're gearing up for the closing stretch of 2024 in Ligue 1, where PSG aims to finish on top. However, standing in their way is Toulouse, a team that brings back less-than-pleasant memories, something Luis Enrique is well aware of.
With this in mind, the coach acknowledges that his players are returning from international duties and that, rather than seeing it as a hurdle, it’s time to “switch gears.”

“We need to quickly shift our mindset. The players are coming back from different objectives with their national teams, and tomorrow is already a day to compete again in our league, eager to keep earning good results,” the Spanish coach commented to the team’s official channels.
“We know Carlos [Martins], their coach. It’s a very well-drilled team that already knows how to win at the Parc des Princes—they did it last season. We’re expecting challenges, especially as we need to assess the players’ conditions, how they’ve returned, and how many minutes we can give them looking ahead to other matches.”
PSG vs. Toulouse: Their Last Encounter
On May 15, Toulouse visited Paris Saint-Germain and handed them a 1-3 defeat—a match where Kylian Mbappé bid farewell to his home ground ahead of his move to Real Madrid.
In that game, the result was sealed by goals from Thijs Dallinga (13’), Yann Gboho (68’), and Frank Magri (90’+5), outscoring Mbappé’s early goal in the 8th minute.
The Ligue 1 Standings Before the Break
Ligue 1 paused for the FIFA international window with PSG at the top of the table with 29 points, six ahead of AS Monaco, who remain in strong form. Further behind is Olympique Marseille with 20 points.
Luis Enrique’s side hasn’t played a competitive match since November 9, when they secured a 4-2 away victory against Angers, with braces from Kang-In Lee and Bradley Barcola—two players who have stepped up as key offensive leaders this season.
Who Leads the Scoring Charts in France?
Bradley Barcola has solidified himself as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards this season. He currently leads Ligue 1’s scoring charts with eight goals, though Mason Greenwood is close behind with just two fewer.
