Marquinhos Showers Compliments on Luis Enrique
Luis Enrique is off to a good start as PSG's coach. The capital's team is the winter champion in Ligue 1 and has made it to the Champions League round of 16.
Despite some criticism, the Spanish coach has stuck to his playing philosophy without contemplating a change in style, a scheme that players, including captain Marquinhos, also enjoy. He believes the Parisians are on the right track, although they need to adapt to the coach's new demands.
"We've put in a lot of work in defense due to many changes and the arrival of new teammates. There's a lot of quality. I'm confident we can achieve great things with a solid defense," commented the captain.
Additionally, the Brazilian outlined Luis Enrique's requests for his position. "Defenders need to play further up, take risks, and have a lot of involvement with the ball," he explained. "He shows us many videos, always talks to us, and teaches us a lot. We're thrilled to play together for a coach who genuinely cares for his players. It's crucial for our progress."
Marquinhos added: "He's a coach who always tries to strengthen us and give us confidence. That involves having possession. We have to be confident when we have it; we can hurt the opponent. If we want the ball, we have to run a lot, know how to press the opponent. We've put a lot of work into that since Luis Enrique arrived."
Now, under Luis Enrique's guidance, PSG aims to continue their strong performance in the league as the leaders and keep competing in the Champions League with all titles still in sight
