PSG beat Metz, retake top spot and turn focus to Monaco showdown
Paris Saint-Germain defeated FC Metz 3-0 to return to the top of Ligue 1, capitalizing on Lens’ defeat against AS Monaco.
Paris Saint-Germain took the first step toward what could become a fantastic week, as they defeated FC Metz 3-0 to reclaim the top spot in Ligue 1. With the league lead back in their hands, they can now fully focus on finishing off their playoff tie against AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League.
PSG return to the top of Ligue 1
Just as Luis Enrique had warned before the match, PSG came out pressing high and, as expected, dominated a Metz side that once again showed why it sits at the bottom of the French top division.
The goals began to arrive early. Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the third minute with a superb volley that immediately set the tone.
Later, near the end of the first half, Bradley Barcola extended the advantage, giving the reigning champions greater control and calm heading into the break.
It was not until the final third of the match that Gonçalo Ramos took advantage of a sharp recovery high up the pitch to score the third and definitive goal.

PSG set their sights on the Champions League Round of 16
After an intense first leg in the Champions League playoffs, where PSG secured a 3-2 victory over Monaco, Luis Enrique’s team will return to action on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes, looking to close out the series against the Principality club and book their place in the Round of 16.
