PSG show their class to claim Ligue 1 top spot in Strasbourg
Luis Enrique’s multi-title winning PSG made the most of Matchday 20 in Ligue 1, defeating Strasbourg 2-1 at the Stade de la Meinau to become the new leaders of French top-flight football.
PSG capitalized on the opportunity, reaching 48 points and opening a two-point gap over Lens, confirming their strong form in the domestic title race.
Matvei Safonov, key to PSG’s victory
Just as he did in the Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo, Matvei Safonov once again showcased his penalty-saving ability, this time denying Joaquín Panichelli and keeping PSG in control of the match.
According to Opta, Safonov has saved five penalties (including shootouts) this season out of seven attempts, the highest total among goalkeepers in Europe’s top five leagues.

Nuno Mendes hands PSG the top spot
It was far from an easy task for Luis Enrique’s side. Senny Mayulu opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, but Guéla Doué equalized just five minutes later.
The reigning Champions League winners pushed hard for the winning goal, even after Achraf Hakimi was sent off in the 70th minute. Eleven minutes later, Nuno Mendes emerged as the hero, heading home the decisive goal to secure three golden points and send PSG to the top of Ligue 1.
