Fabián Ruiz Also Raises His Hand and Says He Deserves the Ballon d’Or

A historic double that positions him among the favorites

Fabián Ruiz has joined the list of players who feel deserving of the Ballon d'Or. And he doesn't do it out of whim; the Spanish midfielder was the only player who won the Champions League and the World Cup last season, a double that directly propelled him among the favorites for the award given by France Football.

"For titles, no player had a better season than mine," acknowledges Fabián, though with the humility of someone who knows that football is not just a matter of trophies. "I highlight the great individual level of other candidates," he adds.

From the 24th nomination to rubbing shoulders with the elite

For the Spaniard, being once again among the 30 nominees already represents a privilege. Last year he finished in 24th place, and now he is back sharing the spotlight with the elite of world football. "It's a privilege to be among the top 30 again," he confesses.

Regarding the keys to his performance, Fabián focuses on the coaches. He highlights the work with Luis Enrique and Luis de la Fuente, two coaches whose styles perfectly match his game. "Their styles fit well with what I need to perform," he explains.

No grudges for Qatar 2022 and a rebirth in Paris

Regarding his absence from the 2022 World Cup, the midfielder clarifies that there was no conflict with Luis Enrique. "It was simply a difficult decision by the coach," he assures.

Additionally, Fabián states that Luis Enrique's arrival at PSG was key to regaining his best form and relaunching his career in Paris. "It was essential for me to feel important again," he asserts.
